Silence is great for healing. I know that there's lot of 'meditation music' around for people who want to learn how to meditate, but they just can't beat simple silence. Otherwise the sounds or music on tapes just drown out the disturbances in your mind. When you sit in silence, you can actually begin to experience your mind's activities. There's calmness and steadiness within you, and sitting in silence can bring both of these into your conscious mind.
